Yan Can Cook!

Andrea_yan_1Martin Yan is one busy man. I just finished my first cookbook, and I thought that was quite a feat, but this guy has over 25 of them to his name! He was one of the first "celebrity chefs" to get out there and make a name for himself. His classic show "Yan Can Cook" started in 1978! What a guy.

Martin and I met down at the Stinking Rose last week, and we shot the breeze for a few minutes. Both of us have such strong accents that I'm not sure either of us were quite sure what was being said, but we had fun anyway. I told him about my idea for a cookbook we could do together: the theme would be Italian/Asian fusion, and we'd call it Chew and Ciao!

Since Chinatown is right next to North Beach, it makes sense to get the flavors together and have a party... right?! He smiled, but I couldn't tell if he understood what I was talking about.

Ah, well.
